What I learned from the cookie sellers.
Yesterday I was walking through the town centre when two young girls ran up to me and asked me if I'd like to buy some cookies. I smiled at their enthusiasm and said yes. I had no idea of the cost or what was inside the cookies, in fact I hadn't even seen the cookies! But I admired their audacity of approaching a complete stranger (or so I thought) and asking me if I wanted to buy their product. I bought 4. I looked over and recognised their older sister, so she must've said to them quick go to that lady, she'll probably buy a cookie (well I bought 4) their mum smiled and thanked me.
It may only be cookies, but it's the start of knowing that selling is serving. Exactly same way that selling coaching is serving, not everyone will want a coach (or cookies) and that's not a problem, and those who do want a coach (or cookie) won't all resonate with me (or like chocolate chip) and that's fine. So this is what I learned from the cookie sellers, they knew their target audience and unapologetically approached their customer.
